表情银行本是一支活跃在北京的四人乐队，因为这次疫情，他们暂时变成了活跃在杜塞尔多夫一间阁楼里的宅电子duo。表情银行的几位海外成员都在春节的时候离开了北京飞往世界各地，没想到从此再没能回去。于是困在德国的主唱思雨和制作人通通做出了这张与他们以往作品风格截然不同的EP。

这张EP叫《维他命D》，因为写这四首歌的时候他们和大家一样宅了太久，患了维他命D缺乏症，身体虚弱骨质酥软，却又不能离开安全温暖的小阁楼。就好像宇航员在宇宙里一样，飞船和太空服为他们挡住了危险，同时也挡住了他们需要的阳光。

《维他命D》中除了人声和贝斯是实录的，其他一切都是“假”的。这赋予了表情银行截然不同的听感。他们延续了一贯擅长的对和声及音色的精准把控，但多了复古未来感和锐利的边缘感。虽然缺维他命D，但他们不缺时间。EP中的四首歌《外星人β》《影子里》《穴居人2020》和《唵》没有哪首是主打，每一首都费尽了心思，每个音符都细细打磨，每个细节都有存在的原因。

表情银行说这张EP是他们自己的“2020太空漫游黑石”。它只能诞生在这段时空里，也只有在这样特殊的时空里他们才能如此专注地遨游颅内宇宙。思雨和通通两个人自己不但包办了编曲录音混音母带，还开始涉足视觉领域，第一次尝试了自己设计封面和制作视频，为学到新的五毛特效欢呼雀跃。

巡演取消了，回国遥遥无期，但表情银行做出了《维他命D》这个小纪念碑，他们还是心满意足的。
